Day 4: A favorite quote

I'm writing this late in the day, which means I'll be something like #423 in the linkup, but that's OK. Today's topic for Blog Every Day in May is "a favorite quote," and after being kind of heavy yesterday (which, by the way, thanks for all the support - it means a lot), I thought about using a funny quote. But then I changed my mind. So I give you a (long) quote from one of my all time favorite movies, The Shawshank Redemption.

"I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don't want to know. Some things are best left unsaid. I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can't be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free." - Red

That's what music is to me. It feeds my soul, it makes me sing and dance, it makes me cry, it brings me joy.

  2. I love that quote! King isn't poetic very often, but he knows how to express human emotion, and this USA gorgeous example.
