Red, White and Gwensday

Happy Fourth of July Eve! If you're lucky enough to have an extra long weekend, enjoy! I'm still up in the air as to whether I'll work on Friday or not. So what's everyone doing for the holiday? If you venture over to Erin's blog, you'll see my brief description of our plans, but I'll elaborate a bit here.

Columbus has a big fireworks display tonight. The suburbs all have their fireworks on the 4th but the 3rd is Red, White and Boom downtown. My office traditionally closes at 3:00 so people can get out before the traffic gets too nuts. What's cool is that we can see most of the fireworks from our house so we don't have to go anywhere if we don't want to.

On the 4th, we'll likely sleep in. There's a parade in one of the 'burbs that we've gone to, but dude, it starts at 9:00 am. I just don't see it happening. The parade we WILL go to is the Doo Dah Parade, and again, we can walk to it. It's a satirical parade that celebrates "liberty and lunacy" and just about anything goes. The only rules are: "No Blatant Advertising, No Full Nudity, All Politicians Must Wear a Funny Hat." I promise I'll take lots of pictures so check back for those.

As I said, Friday is up in the air, but Saturday we'll be at the ballpark. The Columbus Clippers are a triple-A farm team for the Cleveland Indians and they have a doubleheader Saturday. Aaron and a few friends sing the national anthem several times a season (they call themselves The Pitch Hitters!) and this Saturday is one of those times.

One year we saw the end of a rainbow inside the park!
While that was cool, I'd prefer no rain please, Mother Nature. Thanks bunches.

In preparation for all the freedom festivities I painted my nails the other night:

Hopefully they last until at least Friday.

  9. Those are the most patriotic nails I have ever seen! And that's saying a lot coming from a Philly girl.

No blatant advertising and no full nudity? Sounds like my kind of parade! Cannot wait to see pictures!!!!!
